I want to tell you about a woman who never made it to my studio.
She inquired three years ago. We emailed back and forth; she was warm, funny, excited. You could tell she wanted this. Right before booking, though, she told me she wanted to wait until she lost a little more weight.
“I’m so close,” she said. “Maybe spring.”
Spring came. Then another spring. Every year or so she’d like a post, sometimes comment “one day!!” with two exclamation points, and my heart would squeeze a little every time.
She’s still waiting.
And the version of herself she was three years ago… the laugh she had then, the face she had then, the exact woman she was in that chapter… was never photographed. She doesn’t get to go back and reclaim her. None of us do.
I’m not telling you this to guilt you, and I’m definitely not telling you to rush yourself before you’re comfortable. I’m telling you because I need you to understand something about the word ready.
Ready Isn’t Coming
Here’s what I’ve learned from years of watching women wrestle with this decision: ready is not a destination. It’s a moving target, and your inner critic is the one holding it.
You lose the ten pounds, and suddenly it’s your arms. You make peace with your arms, and now it’s your skin. You wait for a calmer season of life, and life laughs a little and hands you a busier one. You tell yourself you’ll do it when work settles down, when the kids are older, when you feel hotter, when you feel more like yourself.
And somehow “soon” keeps turning into “not yet.”
The finish line keeps moving; not because you’re failing, but because it was never really about the finish line. It was about a voice that does not want you to be seen clearly, joyfully, or without apology, and babe, that voice does not negotiate in good faith. It will always find one more condition. One more delay. One more thing to fix first.
Most of the time, “I’ll do it later” isn’t laziness or vanity. It’s fear, wearing a very sensible outfit. Being seen can feel vulnerable, especially if you’ve spent years picking yourself apart before anyone else could. If that’s you: you are not behind. You are not too much. You are not disqualified for being not-there-yet. You’re a living, changing person in the middle of a real life, and that’s not a reason to wait. That’s the reason to remember yourself now.

The Women Who Actually Book
The women who walk through my studio door are not the ones who woke up one morning feeling completely fearless.
Not one of them, in all my years of doing this, has ever sat in my glam chair and said, “I waited until I felt 100% ready, and now here I am.” Not one.
They came scared. Self-conscious. Mid-goal, mid-mess, mid-life. They came with nerves and doubts and bodies they were still learning to be kind to.
They came anyway. And that’s the whole difference; not more confidence, not a cleaner calendar, not a more photogenic season of life. Just the decision to stop waiting for a feeling that was never going to arrive first.
What Waiting Actually Costs
We talk about waiting like it’s free, like “someday” is a savings account where your plans just sit safely until you’re finally ready to cash them in. It isn’t. I’ve watched women pay for it, over and over:
The new mom who wanted to wait until the baby weight was gone, and instead spent those wild, once-in-a-lifetime postpartum years with zero photos of herself in the season her body did its most astonishing work.
The woman who waited through her forties because her fifties felt like a deadline she could deal with later, then told me at fifty-three that she wished she had one single photo of the woman she was at forty-five.
The wife who kept saying, “next anniversary.” I’ll leave that one right there, bestie; you already know what I mean.
You will never be this version of yourself again. Not this face, not this body, not this exact laugh line, this haircut, this softness, this strength, this chapter. Waiting does not preserve her. It erases her, quietly, one postponed year at a time.
The Plot Twist Nobody Expects
Now here’s the part that gets me every single time.
The women who book before they feel ready; the ones who show up with shaky hands, nervous laughs, and a list of things they almost canceled over; are the ones who stand in front of their gallery absolutely stunned. And then they say some version of the same sentence:
“Why did I wait so long?”
Not “I wish I’d lost five more pounds first.” Not “I should have waited until spring.” In all my sessions, I have never once heard a woman look at her images and wish she’d postponed. The regret only ever runs in one direction.
Because here’s the secret your inner critic never tells you: confidence is not the price of admission. It’s the souvenir. You do not have to bring it with you. You get to take it home.
Here’s the Plan (No Pressure, Promise!)
If boudoir has been living in your “someday” folder, you don’t have to figure the whole thing out today. Here’s genuinely all it takes to start.
You send me a message. That’s it. Not a booking, not a deposit, not a commitment. Just a real conversation with someone who has walked hundreds of nervous women through this exact door.
We talk it through, honestly. What’s making you excited, what’s making you nervous, what “ready” has been holding hostage. No script, no sales pitch. I answer every question you’ve been too embarrassed to ask.
You decide, on your own timeline. When and if you book is entirely up to you. My job is just to make sure fear isn’t the one making that decision for you.
Send me a message and say, “I’m the one who’s been waiting.” That’s it. Courage rarely looks loud in the beginning. Sometimes it looks like a shaky little inquiry email. Sometimes it looks like letting yourself be considered now, instead of someday.

One More Thing, Babe
If you’ve been telling yourself you need to feel better, look different, fix a few things, or become a more finished version of yourself before you do this, borrow my perspective for a second.
The women I photograph aren’t valuable because they arrived polished. They’re powerful because they arrived honest. Human. A little nervous. Fully themselves. That is more than enough for me, and it has always been more than enough for the camera too.
The right time was never coming, babe. There’s just now, and there’s you, and you’re already enough for both.
